The Summit FM is seeking a talented sales professional with 5+ years experience to secure business underwriting from regional businesses and organizations across our Akron, Youngstown, and Athens markets.

The Role

Prospect and secure corporate sponsors for The Summit FM’s Akron, Youngstown, and Athens markets. Manage accounts to ensure timely collection and renewal growth. Compile weekly sales, activity reports, and work remotely with the Sales Director. Ensure contract confirmations are accurate and that underwriting announcements are written, approved, scheduled, and run appropriately. Additional opportunities to collaborate with marketing, events, and programming departments as needed.

Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on experience in sales / media marketing
Proven sales track record with experience generating new leads and managing active accounts
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and communication skills
Experience with database software and sales organization tools
Radio advertising or public media experience is a strong asset
Familiarity with FCC-legal copywriting is a plus

Responsibilities

Meet or exceed monthly underwriting sales goals as agreed upon
Develop and implement action items to maximize revenue potential in our markets
Participate in weekly remote sales team meetings to review inventory, clients, and activity
Build and maintain strong client relationships to maximize account renewals
Ensure underwriting copy is accurate, FCC legal, approved, and runs as scheduled

Job Type: Contractor, benefits not included
Pay: Commission-based — 30% new business / 20% renewals

The station is owned by Akron Public Schools and has been financial independent since 2014. The public radio station is operated by a professional staff with assistance from Akron Public Schools students as part of the APS College to Career Academy.
