Summit Wellness History

The path to Summit Wellness began in 2011 with the creation and production of Rock and Recovery and KIDJAM! Radio. 

For over a decade, The Summit’s Rock and Recovery supported its listening community through programming targeting individuals on their recovery journey from substance use disorder and mental health illness (SUD/MHI). Rock and Recovery was recognized and celebrated by regional foundations and social service organizations as innovative, removing the stigma and offering hope. 

During that same time, KIDJAM! Radio empowered and entertained children, enhancing self-motivation and good nutrition and creating high self-esteem. All of us at The Summit FM are deeply proud of the hundreds of KIDJAMMERS – who served as positive voices on our service platforms. In addition, to our treasured partnerships, namely Akron Children’s Hospital and the KIDJAM! Recording Studio. 

In the spring of 2023, based on various input from our regional social service program partners, The Summit FM proactively and intentionally shifted programming and messaging to well-being for youth and adults.  

Mental health is now our primary focus as it remains the most critical concern in the communities we serve. The Summit FM is committed to using our various platforms and the power of music to impact mental health for all ages positively.
